Exterior

We begin our tour of this tiny seaside cottage with a closer look at its Craftsman exterior.

While the architecture is familiar, here the components of the style have been scaled down to more appropriately fit the smaller scale of the cottage.

For example, the porch columns have been given a somewhat lighter treatment although they still manage to convey that solid and substantial Craftsman feel.

The Craftsman detailing continues with deep roof overhangs featuring beaded-board soffit and exposed rafter tails.

The shingled front-facing gable, classic knee braces and arched apron over the front porch are also hallmarks of the Craftsman style.

Another great feature of this little cottage is the nice blend of hand-stained cedar siding with a three-hue historic color scheme on the painted surfaces.

The paver-lined patio and large stackstone fire pit provide a wonderful venue for al fresco entertaining.

To the left of the front porch is the new main entry, which opens onto the main room of the cottage through a single French door.

(Yes, believe it or not, this tiny dwelling used to be tinier still! The old front door is no longer used for access so cedar chairs now populate the porch.)

As you can see, the main room of the cottage is really a delightful sunroom.

With floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides, the interior is flooded with natural light and opened up to the beautiful and breathtaking saltwater views outside.
