Attic Master Suite

Attic spaces can be the coziest, most interesting spaces in any house. Here, the master bedroom/master bath combination is situated in the attic space.

With all its unique and charming features, this master suite is without doubt the icing on the cake in this old-house redo.

We begin, at the top of the staircase, with the entrance to the suite.

Here we find a rounded cedar-plank door adorned with antique hardware.

And inside, a marvel of beaded-board-lined walls and interesting angled ceilings. The craftsmanship here is truly amazing!

Underfoot, for a nice contrast to the white-painted walls and ceiling, is a solid hardwood floor of warmly stained pine.

The romantic master bedroom is right out of an old-house dream.

And separating the bedroom from the bath is a lovely wall of curtained French doors.

As you can see, the master bath is an old-house dream unto itself.

Featured here are an antique pedestal sink and a highly coveted four-and-a-half-foot vintage clawfoot tub.

Notice also the antique wall-hung toilet to complete the vintage fixtures.

We added a built-in "medicine cabinet" and used shelving of vintage green glass for just the right feel.

We also used flat-panel inset doors for the closets, for the perfect period look.

Finally, a beautifully tiled floor give this small bathroom space more than its fair share of old-house character.

Back in the master bedroom, a built-in curio cabinet sports a "new" leaded-glass door front.

The "door" is actually an old window, reclaimed from a Seattle salvage yard.

Waste not, want not!

The final touch of romance in the master bedroom comes in the form of a comfortable window seat.

With a hinged lid for linen storage below and a quilt atop for lounging, what a lovely place to start the day with that morning cup of espresso.

Or, even better, a comfortable, relaxing place to end the day with an evening glass of Riesling.
