Just add a ceiling fan, a Fedora and, of course, a pack of smokes.
Beautiful fir French doors open onto this period home office.
The beamed wood ceiling in pine and fir and the carefully crafted wood window trim add to the retro feel of this cozy space.
And then there's the painstakingly painted embossed wallpaper, a la old-fashioned Lincrusta and Anaglypta.
Much more interesting than your ordinary run-of-the-mill flat wallpaper, the embossing adds both texture and flair.
But the main theme of this room is clearly the wood.
And not just any wood either—this room is done in our all-time favorite, warm wonderful fir.
From the beamed ceiling and window trim to the wainscoting and antique flooring, this retro home office is more romantic than an old movie set.
And a little closer look at this floor reveals yet another interesting detail adding yet more character and charm to the room.
In reclaimed antique fir, a center diamond inlay and, in each corner, an inlaid triangle, too.
It's nice to know that craftsmanship hasn't completely vanished from the planet.
